The Senior Financial Analyst provides business partnership support to specific business lines within LifeLabs, as delegated by the finance department manager. This may include Clients Services, Lab Operations or the Medical Science / QRA segments of the business. Using analytics and financial modelling to influence and advise, this position provides the business with the data and intelligence to identify opportunities to maximize operating effectiveness and efficiencies to reduce costs and improve productivity and bottom-line margins. 

 

This position supports LifeLabs analytics and recommendations to drive improved business performance and optimal costing for the RFP vendor contracting processes. This position is responsible for completing monthly business unit performance reviews to monitor performance, the annual budget and forecast process updates, the 5-year plan and any financial modelling / business cases required to support current and future impacts of opportunities for the delegated business segments. 

 

This is a Full Time Remote role based at either Ontario or British Columbia.

 

Core Accountabilities 

 

Monthly Business Unit Performance Reviews

  • Working in conjunction with either Clients Services, Lab Operations or the Medical Science / QRA segments of the business, as have been delegated by the finance department manager, establish a working partnership and framework to analyze and communicate results of the delegated business units on a monthly basis. This framework will include traditional variance analysis and performance monitoring, visual dashboards to measure in-process metrics as well as progress / tracking on the achievement of any segment specific initiatives. 

 

Budget, Forecast Updates and Plan Development

  • Lead the processes specific to the delegated segment of either Clients Services, Lab Operations or the Medical Science / QRA segments of the business to develop the annual budget, corresponding “year to go” forecast updates (at least 3X per year) and the annual 5-year financial plan for Life Labs. 
  • Ensure alignment of plans across all delegated stakeholder groups 

 

Analytics and Business Partnerships

  • Develop analytical frameworks and tools to assist the delegated segment of either Clients Services, Lab Operations or the Medical Science / QRA segments of the business in making data-driven decisions, including pricing activities, new business ventures, new product lines, margin analysis, low-volume/margin test rationalization, product divestitures, capital investments, RFP activities for vendors, contract negotiations and more broadly any other innovations, strategic initiatives and ad hoc analysis as required to enable business decisions. 
  • Leverage tools to enable business case development and documentation, inclusive of both capital requirements and investment returns / payback. 
  • Ability to perform ad hoc projects in support of the finance department manager. 

 

Qualifications and Skills

  • University Degree
  • Accounting Designation, CPA and / or MBA (or working towards one of these designations) 
  • 5 years previous experience working as Financial Analyst
  • Strong analytical and business planning skills in order to solve problems and research and escalate issues, when necessary 
  • Good understanding of finance processes and data requirements 
  • Developing management presentation capabilities
  • Experience with ERP systems (Oracle, Oracle Cloud, SAP, EPM application suites preferred) 
  • Strong computer and reporting skills with an advanced proficiency in MS Excel and Word

This is a remote role. 

 

Hiring Range: 78,300 - 99,800 

The hiring range has been established, however, the final salary recommendation will be determined based off the level of experience, education requirement, external market conditions and internal equity.  

In this position, you will be eligible for Lifelabs annual bonus.
