The Director, IT Application Services will lead LifeLabs into the next generation of systems, enabling the business to grow within the evolving public healthcare market. As the Director you will enjoy engaging your team to bring benefit to the business and have experience in disciplined processes and practices required to bring large scale change to an organisation.

 

This is a full time permanent role that reports into the Chief Information Officer and is located at 30 International Boulevard.

 

Responsibilities

  • Establish and enforce policies, processes and systems to design, build, procure and support application software solutions as governed by the IT plan and the LifeLabs strategy.
  • Plan and manage business risk, as it relates to application software, as a function of quality, availability, reliability, scalability and cost
  • Develop plans and budgets for application software function and manage / optimize application software maintenance costs.
  • Design and implement measurement systems and KPI's for application software performance as an extension of the overall IT performance KPI's.
  • Develop and implement career and skill development plans for IT Application Services staff that ensure long-term continuity of application development and support capability at LifeLabs.
  • As a member of the IT Senior Leadership Team, identify efficiency improvements, continuous improvements on IT governance and processes, and proactively manage the overall IT budget
  • Maintain current knowledge of technology developments external to LifeLabs, both in the healthcare industry and in the world in general
  • Be accountable for all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), from inception through implementation, maintenance and support and retirement while using both waterfall and agile methodologies
  • Proactively manage staffing of the IT Application Services function in attracting, training, retaining, and performance managing an effective and highly motivated team of talents

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration or other relevant discipline; Master’s degree education in Business Administration or Computer Science would be an asset
  • The successful will possess 5 + years’ experience as Director or Manager/Senior Manager leading a software development team
  • 8 – 10 years of previous application development and support experience, ideally with exposure to SQL Server, Oracle, .Net and C#, Cache and related or similar technologies delivering products on time and with high quality.
  • 5 + years of experience working with management level clients or partners of IT, either internal or external to the organization.
  • Strong development background in Windows environments and experience with modern software development techniques.
  • Five or more years’ experience with design, development, testing and implementation of various types of systems and databases
  • Able to develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external customers
  • Strong project management experience
  • Ability to absorb, analyze and organize information and ideas and to present written an oral reports
