Reporting to the National Manager, Fleet and Safety, the Fleet Safety Trainer schedules, conducts, and monitors regional and national safety training programs, they ensure the provision of effective safety training for LifeLabs employees and adhere to company values.  The Fleet Safety Trainer is responsible for leading continuous improvement and transportation safety initiatives, and is integral to continuous driver development through coaching to correct driver behaviours.  This role will require the individual to travel within the Province of Ontario for scheduled and ad-hoc training requests. Willingness to be flexible with a positive attitude is essential as work schedules are subject to change on a day to day basis.

 

Accountability: Training

  • Responsible for scheduling LifeLabs Driver Safety Programs and tracking/logging participants in the program.

  • Responsible for assessing driver competencies and applying corrective action to enhance driver performance and reduce vehicle related incidents/accidents

  • Conduct accident investigations and apply root cause analysis

  • Fleet and Safety focused with an In-depth knowledge of  best practices

  • Accountable for providing ongoing learning to assist in the reduction or vehicle related accidents

  • Accountable for meeting Provincial Key Performance Indicator (KPI) targets involving number of on-going competencies of employees

  • Support corporate and regional initiatives that impact site driver safety

  • Ensures training costs stay within departmental budget. 

 

Accountability: Operational Effectiveness

  • Successfully manages daily, weekly, monthly and yearly training programs with employees

  • Deliver on service and quality standards (documentation, regulatory compliance/audit track record, health and safety, etc.)

  • Ensures appropriate escalation of issues for resolution

  • Support organizational change initiatives within the region 

 

Accountability: Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensures compliance with Q & RA (Quality/Regulatory Assurance)

  • Ensures compliance with internal policies, procedures and practices

  • Ensures compliance with regulations and external bodies (inspectors, MTO etc.)

  • Makes recommendations on the development and implementation of process improvements as aligned to Lean initiatives

 

Skills/Qualifications:
Graduate of a G Class Driver Instruction Program preferred

Experience in training, adult learning principals and training design would be beneficial

Proven ability to instruct/teach/facilitate in a classroom setting and deliver training programs
Ability to lead, coach and motivate

Fleet focused with an In-depth knowledge of Safety best practices
3 years Professional Driving experience preferred                                                                               

A full valid Driver’s license, clean driving abstract
