Reporting to the Senior Manager, Logistics and Materials Management, the Manager Logistics is responsible for ensuring proper transportation of all goods related to PSC activities and laboratory services.
Based in Toronto, ON, the successful candidate will ensure that LifeLabs Vision and Values are demonstrated in operational management while leading a team of Supervisors and Couriers
Key Responsibilities
- Accountable for budget development and P&L performance of all regional courier operations (manpower, vehicle lease and operating costs, external courier costs/contracts).
- Monitoring and executing transportation system wide process improvements; development of key performance indicators.
- Responsible for leadership of the transportation component of the Business Recovery Plan and it’s implementation.
- Responsible to work with Client Service and Laboratory Operations Managers and Directors responsible for customer service, specimen integrity and equipment utilization.
- Responsible for ensuring transportation as a system operates effectively regionally and provincially and integrates with the broader operation across the province.
- Accountable for budget performance on a day to day and annual basis, predicting and acting quickly upon variances ensuring corrective actions are put in place.
- Achieve effectiveness through planning of resource allocation.
- Ensure Business Recovery Plan preparedness of self and team.
- As a member of the Provincial Management and Leadership team, responsible for the creation of a logistics strategy for Ontario that is consistent with Diagnostic sector objectives and goals.
- Responsible for all aspects of transportation and logistics activities in Ontario.
- Manage and coach direct reports to ensure their performance meets present and future needs creating a robust leadership team.
- Responsible for the leadership and development of all couriers.
- Identify and work to remove barriers from the work environment to keep employees/team contributing fully.
- Logistics specialist with understanding and monitoring of distribution & delivery quality, regulatory compliance, fleet efficiency, logistics technology and process improvement.
- Recommend and deploy technologies and tools that will improve efficiencies without compromising service and quality.
- Ability to work collaboratively with LifeLabs and external colleagues for benchmarking and continuous
improvement. - Responsible for logistics and logistics software.
- Possess experience and understanding of benchmarking techniques.
- Demonstrate ability to think strategically as well as be an analytical problem solver.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and implement change.
- Strong customer service focus.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Minimum Education College diploma, degree or post secondary education.
- Canadian Institute of Transportation and Traffic (CITT) an asset.
- Minimum 10 years Senior Management in Air or Ground Courier Transportation Industry or similar.
- Office and outside environment. Extensive provincial and national travel to LifeLabs hub sites is required.
- Experience with business case development.
- Understanding of laboratory operations and knowledge of the industry in general an asset
Hiring Range: $76,800 to $97,900
The hiring range has been established, however, the final salary recommendation will be determined based off the level of experience, education requirement, external market conditions and internal equity.
In this position, you will be eligible for Lifelabs annual bonus.
