Reporting to the Payroll Manager the Payroll Specialist will process timely and accurate biweekly payroll for 5400+ employees. The Payroll Specialist will act as a source of information relating to payroll policies and will comply with internal and external audit requirements.

 

Accountabilities:

  • Process accurate and timely administration of payroll and benefits
  • Perform audit of produced payroll to ensure source documentation is accurately reflected within the HRIS and payroll system. Provide best advice for possible root causes of errors and exceptions
  • Process ROE's accurately and within the required deadlines as per Service Canada Guidelines
  • Administer garnishments as per legislative requirement
  • Provide exceptional customer service to stakeholders via email or phone
  • Identify and enhance continuous improvement projects related to payroll and benefits processing
  • Prepare monthly FTE
  • Pre & Post Audit of bi-weekly payrolls

 

Key Requirements:

  • A minimum of 2 years recent experience in payroll administration
  • Thorough knowledge of the payroll process including ROE, Pension, Collective Agreements, CRA Legislation and garnishments.
  • PCP designation is an asset
  • Must be a team player and demonstrate the ability to develop and sustain cooperative working relationships with employees at all levels
  • Prioritize effectively to meet deadlines and commitments
  • Strong communications skills
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Able to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality
  • Work cooperatively with other payroll staff to ensure proper workflow and coverage
