Reporting into the Director, Financial Planning & Analysis, the Senior Finance Manager, Operations and Performance Management provides strategic support to Senior Leadership by developing a thorough understanding of LifeLabs’ operations value chain, and developing robust analytics around key drivers for growth and productivity.

 

This role will assume a leadership position in optimizing the finance support of all operations activities within LifeLabs’ national footprint. This will include, but not limited to, our entire diagnostic value chain: Patient Service Centres, Specimen Management, Logistics & Fleet Management, Lab Operations, and Medical Science Services, etc... Further, you will also support the planning and roll out of the Operations Five Year Technology Plan as we look to implement innovative solutions to meet the evolving healthcare needs of Canadians. The successful candidate will develop and implement analytical tools to strengthen our understanding of end to end profitability, as well as produce insightful management reporting to guide business decisions and direction.

 

With your strong professioanl presence and ability to produce executive-friendly content, you will interact with executives and VPs regularly to guide their decisions and drive performance. Finally, your passion for people leadership and building up talent will be key as you lead a team of high performing FP&A professionals.

 

Accountabilities:

  • Lead the operations finance function across LifeLabs, including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and business analysis for all areas of Operations (including but not limited to our entire diagnostic value chain: Patient Service Centres, Specimen Management, Logistics & Fleet Management, Lab Operations, and Medical Science Services, etc.)
  • Develop a robust driver based cost model to illustrate fixed / variable, and non-volume drivers to enable rapid decision-making as well as to optimize company profitability
  • Deliver quantitative insights through business intelligence, and define/monitor operating metrics and KPIs by patient/test type, by channel, and by activity, etc., as well as cost measures for OPEX and CAPEX
  • Support the transformation roadmap of the organization and proactively promote cross functional alignment with revenue growth plans and activities
  • Assume the role of company’s subject matter expert around operations costs, productivity, and delivery for aligned business execution
  • Act as a strategic thought leader to prepare insightful analyses to guide business planning, new launches/opportunities, as well as corporate strategy
  • Build and nurture a culture of business partnership with a client service mindset
  • Assist with ad-hoc projects as required

 

Requirements:

  • 8 to 12 years of relevant finance experience with progressive roles and responsibilities including people leadership experience
  • Bachelor’s degree and post-undergrad qualifications in Finance/Accounting. MBA and/or accounting designation an asset
  • Results-driven with strong business and financial acumen, and the ability to challenge plans and assumptions and take an independent stance when appropriate
  • Extensive experience with financial modelling, and quantitative analysis techniques
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills, and experience supporting a diverse client group in a business partnership environment
  • Abillity to prepare and deliver effective communications to executive audiences that inspire alignment and action
